Owen &Tonya Hurter

Owen Hurter, worship leader, songwriter and teacher was born in South Africa. He currently is an itinerant minister who leads worship, does evangelistic concerts and teaches. He has attended Music College and has also been involved in a Christian rock band called “Keenan” which toured throughout South Africa, and Scotland. He came to the School of Ministry in fall of 1998 and returned to be a part of the core worship team at Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship in May, 1999.
Owen was a Senior Worship Leader at TACF and he has been involved in a number of worship recordings since then including “Live from Toronto, Collection 2”, Keep Coming Holy Spirit”, Catch the Fire 6 - 9” and Celebration 1 & 2”. Owen and his wife Tonya, with whom he ministers side by side, released their worship album entitled “Color my world” in April 2003. In October of 2003, Owen and Tonya moved to Detroit, Michigan where they worked as Youth Pastors at Metro Detroit Christian Church and in the summer of 2005 Owen and Tonya moved back into the music arena once again.
Owen and Tonya believe that God has given them a message of hope for the world, which is “Live your dreams”. Worship is a great passion of theirs, and they long to see worship music fill the stages of the world. Their heart together is to see the word of God, the power of the cross and the love of the Father invade everything they do and spill out on all those that they come into contact with.
Owen and Tonya have worked alongside people such as, Noel Richards, Lindel Cooley , David Ruis, Tim Hughes, Rodney Howard Brown, Jeremy Sinnott, Rob Critchley, Georgian Banov and many more. Owen has also written a number of worship songs including “The Jesus Song”, “Awake my soul”, and “Deeper” which have been recorded by various artists and are currently featured on various CD’s throughout the world.
