Do You Have a Religious Spirit?

This message is for those in the Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements of God. I recognize that there are many types of religious spirits throughout the different denominations. Legalism and traditionalism have religious spirits attached to them; however, I am addressing what I see as a result of Satan counterfeiting the new move of God. I am talking to those of you who have a manifestation which is supernatural, yet you allow it to draw attention to you. You probably want the attention even though when you are not in a religious setting, you know that your life is filled with torment and sin.

Under Cover Sin
Many times the sin is blatant such as premarital sex or drinking and drugs. I urge you to get deliverance, because you are causing others to throw out a true supernatural prophetic move of God. Many are not willing to receive the true work that God is doing with His manifestations, because they have confusion caused by the counterfeit. The confusion causes some people to blaspheme the real works of the Holy Spirit.

Examine Yourself
If you have a religious spirit, you may think it is the real thing.  You need to examine your life in light of the Gospels.

• Is the Holy Spirit changing you?
• Do you find yourself motivated in your walk with the Lord by supernatural manifestations and feelings?
• Are you striving to please God to feel good about yourself?
• Do you have the peace of God and a desire to know Jesus more?
• Are you in sin and torment?

Not just a manifestation, with no change in your everyday life.
