Make It Real: July 2012

Question: Some people get healed but then the disease returns. I don’t understand how God could heal someone and then the sickness can return. Do you have an explanation for this?

Jesus is the healer and He declares in His Word that by His stripes we are healed. I believe that Jesus took beatings from the Roman soldiers, and by those wounds, paid the price for us to receive our healing. We need to seek the Lord when we find ourselves facing a trial of sickness or disease and ask the Holy Spirit how the enemy was able to bring the sickness. I recommend the book “A More Excellent Way” by Henry Wright. I have found that past areas of bitterness and sin open the door for the sickness we are facing now. The journey to wholeness, spirit, soul and body, is one that the Holy Spirit must take you on. Every way of escape from the attacks of the enemy must be a personalized journey that the Holy Spirit orchestrates.

God’s Word is filled with what I call spiritual laws or principles that reveal the conditions that must be met for satan to place sickness and disease on our bodies. Likewise the way to healing can be found in God’s Word. The Holy Spirit will lead you into the revelations that you need to find complete deliverance from the evil plans of the enemy.

If you study the response of Jesus when He healed the ten lepers and only one returned to thank Him, you will find a key to maintaining your healing.

And He entering into a certain village, ten leprous men met Him, who stood afar off. And they lifted their voice, saying, Jesus, Master, pity us.
And seeing them, He said to them, Going, show yourselves to the priests. And it happened in their going they were cleansed.
And one of them, seeing that he was cured, returned glorifying God with a loud voice.
And he fell on his face at His feet, thanking Him. And he was a Samaritan.
And answering, Jesus said, Were not the ten cleansed? But where are the nine?
Were not any found returning to give glory to God except this foreigner?
And He said to him, Rising up, go! Your faith has cured you. Luke 17:12-19

I want you to look at the last statement (which I have made in bold print). Jesus tells the man that thanked Him for the miracle and returned to worship Him, that His faith was now the reason for His healing to be maintained. The man received the healing as did the other nine leprous men. But I believe this portion of scripture reveals three principles or keys to maintaining your healing: to give God glory for the healing, continue to seek after God after the healing, and enter into a relationship with Jesus that causes your heart to worship and adore Him. I believe his healing was maintained due to the faith he found when he was so thankful for what Jesus had done. He was overcome with a bold faith in the power of God to heal. He also longed to worship the Lord and glorify Him.

At Beauty For Ashes Church and Ministry, we take seriously the responsibility of maturing the people God sends our way. In the development of a close relationship with the Lord, every promise of God’s Word will come to pass. The miracles and healings are poured out on us because of His great love and compassion. Walking in victory will happen if our heart is changed by the introduction of a living God into our situations. We will hold onto that healing or miracle when we continue to seek after the Lord with all of our heart, soul, and body. The relationship that grows deeper and matures daily will be so faith building that the enemy will lose his ability to place fear in our path. We will overcome every scheme of the evil one as we fall in love with the Holy One.
